My name is Carolyn Luu. I am a kind, honest, loyal, generous, fun and exercise loving person. I am in awed of nature and all of its magnificence. As an artist, I have a passion for contemporary as well as ancient architecture. One is the allure of the present, the other is the grace of the past. I am a hairstylist and salon owner by trade. I was born in Saigon, Vietnam during the war. Few people have lived through a war. It's the type of experience that has lasting psychological and emotional impacts. It also taught me to be grateful and humble.
In 1975, the relationship between China and Vietnam deteriorated rapidly under the new communist government. Many Chinese families like ours lived in constant fear of persecution. My parents often wondered when we would get a knock on the door in the middle of the night. After three years under communism, they made the difficult decision to flee the country. It was a perilous journey by boat in search of freedom. After a number of close calls and Divine interventions, we made it to a refugee camp in Malaysia. If you haven't experienced living in one, considered yourself blessed.!
My parents had a successful business and own properties in Vietnam. All that was left behind, as we fled with just the clothes on our backs. Upon arriving in the US, we started over with our bare hands. Life was extremely challenging financially, physically and emotionally.
My parents are my pillars. My mother was the matriarch of the family. She was the epitome of courage, resilience, kindness and generosity. A woman of few words, she taught by examples. She also taught me to never put money before people.
My family, besides being my support systems, are my teachers. They sometimes challenge and push my buttons, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
My clients, aside from being my mentors, are also my friends. Their stories and experiences have guided me professionally through the years. We've been through recession after recession together, and their supports never wavered.
Throughout my life, I have stumbled, picked myself up off the floor and tried again. After the emotional turmoils of riches to rags came the pride of seeing things turned around. That's just life, full of accomplishments and sometimes disappointments, big and small. I am grateful for ALL of it! They shaped who I am today.
I am a student of life, and I hope that I'll never stop learning. In other words, I am still a work in progress!!
My motto is, "Today is a brand new day!!"
My goal is none other than to share my knowledge and help others. We each have our own free will to chose whether or not to cultivate. Some of us might be ready at this moment, some might require more time. Reactions can vary among us. Words can be used in different ways. Positively, they are like flowers blooming in the Spring and nourish our souls. Negatively, they are like bullets, once fired result in irreparable damage. While constructive criticisms are welcomed, insults are not. If you find the information helpful or would like for me to expand on certain subjects, please feel free to drop me a line.
